I have been a hopeless optimist many times in my life, and this week was no exception.  I made a common mistake that could have made me terribly upset and “ruined my day,” but instead, I stayed calm and it all worked out amazingly well!

I have a once-a-month EFT Borrowing Benefits Groups at my office in Hinsdale, Illinois.  I arrived early and ran down the hall to take a quick potty break before my group. I got back and discovered that I accidentally LOCKED myself out.  Inside were all of my keys and my winter coat.  For those of you in warmer climates, it is way below zero here in the Windy City!

Amazingly, I didn’t panic, or beat myself up. I knew I could conduct my group in our little waiting room.  As my clients came in, I asked if anyone knew how to pick a lock.  No one did, and I STILL didn’t panic.  Then, more new clients came in, and I asked them the same question.

Here’s the miracle part–one man said:  I am a retired LOCKSMITH!!

Within minutes, the door was open and we continued our group inside.  I hugged the man and thanked him profusely.  He didn’t think it was any big deal, but I certainly did.

In the past, I might have been entirely too upset to conduct my group, and I probably would have cancelled it. My energy might have been so out of balance that I would have created a big drama for myself.

As I always like to point out, there are many, many ways to shift energy. We all do it but most of the time, we are pretty unconscious about it. What’s special about EFT is that it provides a system for moving energy in the moment, anytime you wish.

By the way, please check out my two new programs coming up that I will be teaching with Alina Frank, my EFT colleague from Washington state.  We have created EFTMentors, and on our website: www.EFTMentors.com you can sign up for our 6 month mentorship program and our exciting EFT healing extravaganza on April 10 and 11, 2009.

Here is the answer to my last post: what are the names of the 7 dwarfs? I know that it is incredibly easy to “google” it and immediately get the answer, but I am so glad that I can do it now without any outside help.

It takes so little to make me happy! Here is my little memory helper. I noticed that the names in alphabetical order include: 1 B, 2 D’s, 1 G, 1 H, and 2 S’s. That has been the only clue that I have needed. Of course, in a few days, I might forget even the simple sequence of letters, but for this moment in time, I have the answer to a popular trivia question!

So, here I go from memory: the one “B” is Bashful, the two “D’s” are Doc and Dopey, the one “G” is Grumpy, the one “H” is Happy, and the 2 “S’s” are Sleepy and Sneezy.

You may think that this is all very silly and unimportant, but I am convinced that playing little memory games is a great way to keep your mind alert.  Another way is to do math problems without a calculator.

Here’s one that you will probably already know if you happen to be Jewish, but it is a fun question that isn’t easily figured out:  how many candles are there in a box of Hanukkah candles?

Here is what you need to know:  on each night of the holiday, you light one “server” candle that you use to light the other candles, so on the first night, you light 2 candles and on the second night you light 3 candles, all the way up to the eighth and final night when you light 9 candles.  Every night, you burn all of the candles completely.

So, how many candles do you need to have in the box?  I learned this number the hard way when I was a very small child.  There seemed to be way more candles than you could possibly need, so I started playing with the “extra” candles and managed to break a few.  I got in trouble because you really need ALL of the candles in the box!

And, please don’t forget that the Tapping for Thrivers teleconference is tomorrow evening, 8 PM Central time.  Join us by dialing: 712.432.0800, Code ; 132018#.

Blessings,

Kiya

Quick—what are the names of the 7 Dwarfs? I bet if you don’t have small children (who like to watch “Snow White” over and over again), that you can’t remember all of their names. You’ll probably remember at least 3 or 4, or maybe 5 or 6 (if you are young at heart and have great nostalgia for the Disney films that you loved as a kid). But all 7— without peeking? I don’t think so.

I came across the question today and I came up with 5. I pictured their cute little faces marching down the road singing: “Hi, Ho, Hi, Ho, it’s off to work you go!” but I couldn’t have come up with the other 2 names if it was the final question on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”

When I finally gave up and looked up the answers, I decided to organize the names in a pattern so I would never forget them again. And it worked because it is now many hours later and I still remember. I think there’s a lesson here. What we focus on becomes very concrete and stays with us.

It is trivial what the names of the 7 Dwarfs are, but what about more important things? I have often struggled with a poor memory, but willingness and concentration can go a long way to compensate. As usual, I realized that improving my memory could probably be enhanced by using EFT.

When the Chief Justice flubbed the exact wording of the Oath of Office for President Obama, just imagine what a funny sight it would have been if he started tapping on himself and murmured: Even though I can’t remember these words that I memorized, and I’m embarrassing myself in front of millions of people….

Try using EFT next time you have a list of things to remember:

  • EB: Buy milk
  • SE: Pick up dry cleaning
  • UE: Make a bank deposit, etc.

And, one more thing to remember: This Friday, January 23, 2009 at 8 PM Central Time is my free teleclass for breast cancer survivors and their loved ones. Feel free to join us if you have been impacted by cancer in any way.

My hope for you during this odd economic time is that you get very creative about finding ways to enjoy yourself that aren’t expensive.  For example, I went to a party this week that included great food, lovely people, beautiful music, interesting conversations, and a fun and inspirational shared activity.  Since it was a “Pot Luck,” I’m sure that the party givers spent very little money, and we all had a terrific time!

The activity was a “Vision Board.”  We all brought stacks of old magazines and scissors.  Glue sticks and large pieces of white poster board were provided.  Then, each of us cut out photos, drawings, and words and phrases that appealed to us and glued them to our individual poster boards.

Each of us ended up with a collage that showed what inspired us at that particular moment in time.  I personally had pictures of beautiful landscapes, interesting flowers, and some beautiful art objects interspersed with words that caught my fancy about posperity and health and happiness.  I even included a phrase about the wonders of chocolate!

Since I’m always thinking of new ways to use EFT and “try it on everything,” I decided to go home and tap while I looked at my Vision Board.  Some of it was nonverbal.  I just looked at pretty and calming pictures while I tapped as a way to solidify my “visions” into my subconscious.  Then I tapped while I said aloud all of the words and phrases that I cut out.  It felt wonderful, and I highly recommend the activity.

Try making a Vision Board, or if that doesn’t appeal to you, try doing something else that is fun for you and costs little or no money.

And don’t forget, this Tuesday, January 20, 2009 is the International EFT Tap Fest.  People from all over the world are planning free live and teleconference events so hundreds of people can tap together to raise the energy of our planet.

Join me so we can all tap together for Peace.  We will tap for individual peace, peace for our cities, and countries and the whole world.  If you have any individual issues, let us know and we will all tap with you in solidarity.  Here is the call-in information:

New Year Happiness!

Isn’t it funny how expressions lose their meaning after awhile?  Think about how many times you have seen, said or heard “Happy New Year” in the last few weeks—-a hundred times, a thousand times?

So, I’m just switching the words a little so you will really “hear” me.  I wish you true, wonderful NEW YEAR HAPPINESS on every level of your life.  I wish you happiness in your health, your relationships, your work, your finances, and your play.  I said in my newsletter:  TWO THOUSAND NINE WILL BE JUST FINE!  I wish you the happiness of knowing that to be true for you personally!

And to add to your happiness, here are 2 “freebies” I am offering in January:

1. In honor of International TapFest on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, a day when people will be tapping world-wide, I am offering a FREE EFT Borrowing Benefits Teleclass at NOON Central (Chicago) Time.  Please e-mail me at: kiya@eft-tap.com if you would like to participate.  Space is limited, so please contact me as soon as you can.

2. For Breast Cancer Survivors and their loved ones, I am offering a free teleclass on Friday, January 23, 2009 at 8 PM Central Time.  Again, space is limited, so please contact me as soon as possible to reserve your space at: kiya@eft-tap.com.

Don’t forget, I offer EFT telephone consultations all over the world.  And live sessions, group sessions and workshops in the greater Chicago area.  If you want to give the gift that keeps on giving, think about giving an EFT Gift Certificate to someone you love:  it’s like giving them an emotional massage!

In the meantime, enjoy some New Year Happiness, and spread it around!

Blessings,

Kiya
