February

Today happens to be Friday, the 13th of February, and it turns out that there will be 3 Friday the 13ths in 2009.  The word above: Friggatriskaidekaphobia means “fear of Friday the 13th.”  I thought that was very funny that someone came up with a very long term for this particular superstition.

In the same way that I reclaimed Valentine’s Day, I have decided to reclaim Friday, the 13th.  I have a special connection to the 13th, because one month from today, on Friday the 13th of March, I will be celebrating my 65th birthday!

I cannot relate to the number of my age at all (since I continue to feel very young at heart), but I am quite thrilled to be getting on MediCare and escaping the awful world of private health insurance.

If you happen to suffer from Friggatriskaidekaphobia, I believe that it would be fairly easy to tap it away.  Just trying to pronounce the above word while you tap might create that other great energy shifter: laughter.

Try tapping while you say:  Even though I suffer from Friggatriskaidekaphobia, I totally and completely accept myself anyway! Try saying that over and over again, and see if your energy doesn’t move very quickly.

I am not a big fan of horror movies, so I never saw any of the Friday, the 13th movies (and I never will), but I’m sure films and stories and myths add to people’s discomfort about this day.  I always thought it was very strange to go into a building that doesn’t have a 13th floor. I want to say to people living on the 14th floor:  You are in denial!  This IS the 13th floor, no matter what you call it!

My last name, Immergluck means always lucky so I am claiming all 3 Friday, the 13ths this year as happy, auspicious, lucky days!

Don’t forget, I am hosting a unique EFT event on April 11 and 12, 2009 with my colleague and fellow EFT expert, Alina Frank in Highland Park, Illinois.  You will experience 2 days of incredible healing and learn the best highlights of EFT Levels 1, 2, and 3.  If you sign up before March 1st, the cost is only $195 for the 12 hour workshop.  For a small extra fee, you can also receive 12 CEU’s.  For more details and to sign up, go to www.eftmentors.com.

Happy Friday the 13th and Happy Valentine’s Day!

I just read a fascinating article about the Science of Happiness by Bill O’Hanlon. He came up with 4 components of happiness and he gave them the acronym: S.O.A.P. “S” is for Social Connections, “O” is for Optimism, “A” is for Appreciation (or Gratitude), and “P” stands for Purpose—specifically a purpose beyond yourself.

I am seriously considering taking an on-line class on the Science of Happiness. It certainly never occurred to me to put the words science and happiness together, but the 4 components make perfect sense to me. I like the idea of earning 24 CEU’s (or Continuing Education Units) studying something that I find fascinating.

By the way, don’t forget that you can earn 12 CEU’s at our EFT Healing Extravaganza coming up in April. Please sign up at: www.eftmentors.com and receive a discount if you sign up before March 1, 2009.

My title “Soap ‘N Tap” reminds me of some silly names I’ve seen for laundromats and beauty shops (like Curl Up and Dye in Chicago, but it comes from the idea that the 4 elements in the pursuit of happiness could easily be enhanced by using EFT. If you are shy when it comes to making social connections, you can always TAP to reduce your anxiety. If you tend to be very pessimistic in any number of situations, you can TAP to get in touch with your optimistic side. If you have a hard time appreciating yourself and others, you could do a little TAP dance—-every day, at the end of the day, you could tap on every tapping point with a different piece of gratitude: I am grateful that the sun is shining; I am grateful that we are one day closer to Spring; I am grateful that I can still see my toes even though I have gained weight…..

You don’t have to dig for major things to be grateful for, but it does help to force yourself to notice: the man who smiled at me on the elevator; the cute puppy I saw on the street; and the lovely cup of coffee I drank this morning…

And finally, if you struggle to find true purpose in your life, TAP on it. You may be surprised what you find out.

Blessings,
Kiya
